EmaciateThe term emaciate is commonly used to refer to a person that will become very weak and will often lose a substantial amount of weight. There are many reasons that this can happen to an individual, but often it is necessary for doctors to determine the cause to insure that the patient is healthy and there are no underlying causes to their situation. In most cases, there are and they require treatment. When a person is said to be suffering from this condition, emaciate, they may be suffering from a condition or treatment that is causing it. For example, it is common for patients that are facing chemotherapy to lose a large amount of weight and for them to become very thin and frail looking during that process. While they are considered emaciated, the condition happens because of the chemotherapy. Still, this can be a worrisome consideration. When an individual is referred to by the term emaciate, they are often being considered in terms of overall health. As a person loses weight and becomes this thin, they often lose stored body fat which is necessary to fuel the body. Individuals like this can often be put in positions of lacking nutrient for healthy development and overall well being. As the individual faces a situation like emaciate, they are likely to be facing other health risks. Though the fact that they are losing weight like this is not a problem in itself, the term often refers to individuals that are wasting away, so to speak, or losing a great deal of fat and muscle tissue that they should not be losing. If you face a problem with weight loss, do not allow yourself to emaciate. Instead, seek out the doctors that can help with the underlying problem in order to help protect your body from complications. |
